ARTIST STATEMENT
Desert Estuary is inspired by the aerial view of a dry sandy riverbed as it enters the sea in northern Australia, where the tides and sand carried into the ocean form stream-like sandbanks.
A palette of blue, yellow ochre, cream, and brown creates energetic movement on the canvas
The painting is on a smooth artist-quality canvas with a fluid painting technique style. with some texture in some areas.
This unique artwork cannot be replicated. It is created using various methods to control flow, connections between colours, and layering to reveal underlying colours and bring depth to the painting.
ARTIST STATEMENT
My work is inspired by colours, forms, and textures in the landscape that I see in aerial images; and from my experiences on the ground, ‘going bush’’ camping and exploring alpine rivers, outback deserts and rugged coastlines in remote regions of Australia.
I use acrylic paints in various forms from highly textured to liquid; and some artwork is further developed digitally as a base for more painting or digital prints.
